3D Mammography

Because of new technology available at Parkview Wabash, you now have a choice between traditional 2D mammography, or the latest 3D mammography used for screening and diagnosis. 3D mammography works as a complement to standard 2D mammography and gives your doctor a more detailed view. For you, the process is the same—3D and 2D are completed at the same time with just one compression.

Mammography is a simple, quick, non-invasive screening test used in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. The procedure uses low-dose digital imaging to safely create images of the breast tissue. Radiologists read the images to determine whether cancer is present.

Benefits of 3D mammography:

  • Can detect breast cancer an average of 15 months earlier than standard 2D mammography
  • Reduces the number of unnecessary call-backs by up to 40%
  • Multiple images allow radiologist to see fine details of breast tissue, regardless of woman’s age or breast density
  • Takes only a few extra seconds vs. standard mammography

To schedule your mammogram at Parkview Wabash, call 877-225-5747.
