From the age of 8, Charles “Rod” Pattan, MD, High Risk and Cancer Risk Reduction Clinic, Parkview Cancer Institute, knew he wanted to be a doctor. We asked him to share some of the major milestones along his professional path, which include an impressive golf career, 13 years serving in the U.S. Army, two published books and a stint as a caddy for some of the greatest golfers in the world.

During each chapter of his journey, Dr. Pattan took note of the professionals around him, and how they were constantly reassessing their strengths and weaknesses and trying to improve. The lessons he’s learned from others continue to inspire him in his efforts to help women catch cancer early and receive the life-saving treatment they need.
