INSPIRE: Student Nurse Assistant (STNA)

This position is a great option for high school students (ages 17 and older) or others with no clinical experience who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree.

  • Works directly with a Parkview Nurse Mentor to assist in patient care
  • Given the opportunity to apply therapeutic communication and basic clinical care skills
  • Paid position with flexible hours to assist with school schedule
EXPLORE: Student Nurse Technician (STNT)

The STNT position is for students who are already enrolled in a nursing program and have completed the first fundamentals clinical.

  • Works directly with a Parkview Nurse Mentor to deliver a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs of our patients
  • Receives training on safe patient handling, injury prevention and communication to enhance the patient experience
  • Assists Nurse Mentor in helping patients with personal care, bathing, toileting and safe mobility Given opportunities to work with Nurse
  • Mentors on different specialty units to find the student’s desired workplace as a nurse
  • Paid position with flexible hours to assist with school schedule
EMBRACE: Student Nurse Apprentice (SNAP)

A Student Nurse Apprenticeship is intended to help last-year BSN and last-semester ASN students prepare for and transition into practice as a registered nurse.

  • Serves under the direct supervision of a Parkview Nurse Preceptor to care for all age groups within the Standard of Care set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act
  • Attends Jumpstart and Onboarding during SNAP transition — ensuring readiness to orient to chosen area of practice by the time of graduation and passing of NCLEX
  • Attends the Hurst NCLEX review provided by Parkview Health
  • Paid position with flexible hours to assist with school schedule

Additional program details

Quarterly Student Nurse Chats
These chats involve all groups – Student Nurse Assistants, Student Nurse Technicians, and Student Nurse Apprentices. At these quarterly chats, coworkers will discuss various topics from resume building/writing, school and studying tips, NCLEX advice and self-care.

    New Hire Orientation (virtual)

  • Tuesday
    Patient Care Essentials - PEC: 8 a.m. - noon
    CPR training - PEC: 1 - 5 p.m.

  • Wednesday
    Patient Care Essentials - PEC: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Thursday
    Patient Care Essentials - PEC: 9 a.m. - noon
    EPIC training - PEC: 1 - 4 p.m.

  • Friday
    Student Nurse Orientation - PEC: 9 a.m. - noon
    Clinical Orientation - Hospital Unit: 1 - 4 p.m.

  • Tuesday
    Clinical at hospital: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Wednesday
    Clinical at hospital: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
