Sharing the Student Nursing Program – Year 2

Last Modified: July 11, 2023

People of Parkview

In 2022, we introduced you to twin sisters, Isabella and Gianna Gandolfo, who were in their first year of the Parkview Student Nurse Program. The sisters both completed the INSPIRE: Student Nurse Assistant (STNA) stage of the program and are back this summer for the EXPLORE: Student Nurse Technician (STNT) experience.

In the STNT position, students enrolled in a nursing program, who have completed the first fundamentals clinical get the opportunity to:

  • Work directly with a Parkview Nurse Mentor to deliver a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs of our patients.
  • Receive training on safe patient handling, injury prevention and communication to enhance the patient experience.
  • Assist their Nurse Mentor in helping patients with personal care, bathing, toileting and safe mobility.
  • Work with Nurse Mentors on different specialty units to find their desired workplace as a nurse.

We caught up with the Gandolfos to discuss how it feels to return to Parkview, the lessons they’re garnering from their time with clinical staff and the ways in which their time in the Student Nurse Program is preparing them for their future on the frontlines.
