Providing virtual medical care for students at participating schools

Parkview Health is partnering with schools to bring onsite virtual healthcare visits to students. For families at participating schools, this means students experiencing non-emergent medical conditions can be seen by a Parkview provider right from school.

The benefits of having virtual healthcare in schools include:

A school virtual care clinic provides students with focused medical care for non-emergent medical conditions and a treatment plan virtually while assisted by an on-site school nurse or staff member in person.

When not feeling well, your student should visit the school clinic and staff will decide if a video visit with the Parkview provider is needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is a school virtual care clinic?

A school virtual care clinic provides students with focused medical care for non-emergent medical conditions and a treatment plan virtually while assisted by an on-site school nurse or staff member in person.

How does it work?

The school connects the student with the Parkview provider and assists them with conducting the video visit using a virtual exam kit.

The virtual exam kit offers innovative diagnostic abilities (temperature, ears, throat, skin, heart, and lungs) giving the provider real-time diagnostic information to create a treatment plan for the student.

What if medications are needed?

Prescriptions are sent directly to your pharmacy of choice as needed.

Will I receive documentation from my child's video visit?

Parents have access to the student’s After Visit Summary® via MyChart with proxy access and receive a printed copy of the visit details sent home with the child.

How much does this service cost?

All visits are billed to insurance at the same rate as a normal office visit. A copay is not required.

How secure is a virtual exam?

All connections utilize HIPAA-compliant software.

How is the consent to treat form acquired from parents/guardians?

Digital consent is obtained during the school year,  prior to your child’s first visit. Verbal consent is also obtained on the same day of the visit.

The school will contact the parent/guardian for insurance information and consent prior to the student’s visit.
