PPG - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Complementing traditional care to help you regain everyday function

Providers with expertise in physical medicine and rehabilitation can help individuals recover from complex injuries or conditions limiting their daily function. Known as physiatrists, these providers use a multi-disciplinary approach to developing a unique plan of care for each individual.

Parkview’s PM&R team assesses patients within our Fort Wayne hospitals to determine the most appropriate next level of care for them in their health journey. Those individuals who would benefit from intensive, inpatient rehabilitation services are transferred to the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Parkview Hospital Randallia. This unit has capacity for 50 individuals, who stay an average of two weeks in this specialized program. Learn more about the Parkview inpatient rehabilitation unit.

The therapeutic tools and methods used may include:

  • Heat therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Manual therapy
  • Medication
  • Electrical stimulation
  • Assistive devices
  • Prosthetics

PM&R providers treat conditions of the bones, muscles, joints, brain and central nervous system. Individuals can be referred for PM&R services by providers in neurology, cardiology and pulmonary.

Our PPG – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation office is conveniently located on the Parkview Hospital Randallia campus.
