Being a new mom comes with its share of challenges and lifestyle adjustments. Parkview Family Birthing Centers want to support you and your growing family every step of the way. To help you navigate your transition to motherhood, the team offered the following recommendations for self-care and establishing a healthy new routine:

  • Ask family members and friends to help you care for siblings, prepare meals, wash laundry and assist with other household chores.
  • Get a good night’s rest and nap throughout the day.
  • Nap when your baby naps.
  • Maintain a well-balanced diet. Parenting requires a lot of energy. Keep healthy snacks and easy-to-prepare foods nearby.
  • Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can lead to fatigue.
  • Participate in your favorite physical activities. Exercise promotes good health and can help you lose the remaining baby weight.
  • Be patient. Give yourself time to learn parenting skills. You will eventually feel confident about your abilities. In time, you will become the expert on your baby.
  • Plan a date night for you and your significant other. Spending time with your loved one is essential; it enables you to stay connected. Leave your baby with a trusted friend or a family member familiar with infant care.
