Nutrition & Recipes

March is National Nutrition Month! We’ll be celebrating this year’s theme – go further with food – over the next 30 days, with helpful pointers and videos from the talented team of Parkview dietitians.

We’re kicking off our nutrition content with the first installment of our cafeteria video series. Join us as we work our way around the various stations offered at Parkview Regional Medical Center and discuss the secrets to ordering smart food options.

First up: smoothies. While we’re discussing the offerings at our north side hospital, these concepts apply to any recipe, whether you make it at home or order it at your favorite smoothie shop.

A few things to remember:

  • Make sure to add a variety of fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables
  • You want ingredients that add protein, iron and antioxidants
  • Stay around 450 calories for a smoothie to serve as a smart meal replacement
  • Aim for at least 15 grams of protein
