It’s exciting to see a community food network in full bloom – literally!  As the number of farmers’ markets has escalated in the region, we are accomplishing a great feat – feeding more of our citizens with food grown locally. Bravo! Buying fresh produce from farmers markets improves our health and helps the environment and our economy.

Parkview LiVe has been instrumental in supporting all locations of the Ft. Wayne Farmers Market, including the newest location at the Parkview Family Park on the Parkview Regional Medical Center Campus, which will begin Tuesday, May 28.

You will be delighted with the variety and quality of the locally grown produce, as well as baked items, candles, eggs, meat and poultry. You’ll have the goods for a complete meal, including flowers for the table! I can’t wait to get my hands on some baby kale, strawberries or asparagus and to soak up the fun atmosphere at next week’s market. More farmers’ markets also are available throughout Allen County.

You can even go to the Eat Well Guide to find local food by ZIP code or city and state.  The site includes a “plan a trip” option so you can eat sustainably while traveling, wherever your destination. Make it a point to find unique restaurants that support local food on your next summer trip.

Happy shopping and eating!
