Featuring the Frontline: MICU

Last Modified: 5/20/2020

The past few months have introduced us to new challenges and new procedures. It has changed the way we do our jobs and deliver care. It has transformed the manner in which we communicate and collaborate with each other, and our patients. Through all of the ups and downs, it has been the dedication and adaptability of our tremendous teams that have enabled us to continue serving our communities. It’s the world class teamwork happening on the frontlines that’s carrying us through these difficult days.

We wanted a closer look at what a “typical” day (or night) is like for these frontline co-workers in the fight against COVID-19. We asked Hariom Joshi, MD, PPG – Critical Care Medicine, who works tirelessly as a physician in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), to document his thoughts and techniques in treating patients with coronavirus.

Dr. Joshi gathered footage over the past several weeks and provided a sobering perspective on what it means to be a provider in the midst of a global pandemic. Thank you, Dr, Joshi, for taking us behind the scenes and for the incredible life-saving work you do.
