Preparation is the key to having a confident, personally satisfying birthing experience. To help you prepare for this life-changing event, Parkview offers a prenatal education class. It’s designed to assist you and your partner in exploring the physical, emotional and social aspects of birth. Each session includes prenatal information, group activities to promote learning and a demonstration of skills useful during labor and birth so you can better define your needs and wants. Partners are encouraged to attend. 

To help you prepare for childbirth, this class covers the following:

  • Process of labor and birth
  • Relaxation and breathing techniques
  • Pain management options
  • Physical and emotional changes

Breastfeeding Support Group - Parkview Regional Medical Center (Fridays)

This group meets every Tuesday evening (7-8 pm) in the Family Birthing Center conference room, and Friday morning (9-10 am) at Entrance 4 in the third-floor conference room. Excluding holidays.

This is a drop-in group, no appointment needed (Mom and baby preferred).   Lactation consultants are available to help with breast feeding needs, weight-based feeding assessment and pumping concerns.

Mom's Group

Mom’s Group is a support group where moms can go to have their baby weighed, have questions answered by a Parkview lactation consultant and RN, and interact with other moms. Mom’s Group also features crafts for moms to do with their children.

Basic & Beyond Parenting Class

Sometimes the anxiety of caring for your newborn can be overwhelming. The birth planners from our Family Birthing Center at Parkview Whitley Hospital, can help you feel more confident with basic parenting skills and more. This course will help mothers-to-be and their partners explore the physical, emotional and social aspects of childbirth.  

Cost: Free
