At the Parkview Mirro Center for Research & Innovation, groundbreaking ideas come to life.

Parkview Health’s mission is to improve health and inspire well-being in the communities we serve. At the Mirro Center, the patient is at the center of everything we do. We help advance patient care through simulation, innovation and research. We strive to provide opportunities that will open new doors to revolutionize healthcare and save lives.

Research

Founded in 1993, the clinical research department enables translational research, which brings research from the laboratory bench to the patient. We’ve brought over 1,000 clinical trials to patients and providers for novel and potentially life-saving treatments. Our major focus has been Phase II and Phase III sponsored trials. Thousands of people, including healthy individuals, generously volunteer as clinical study participants annually. These studies continue to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various diseases.

In 2014, the Health Services and Informatics Research (HSIR) department brought concrete solutions to problems that patients, healthcare providers, healthcare systems and the community face through traditional research studies, pilot studies, program evaluation and user experience (UX) research. Currently, the team is working on more than 30 active research projects with focuses on everything from cyberbullying and AI chatbots to perinatal care and social determinants of health. At Parkview, our research is truly boundless.

Simulation

The Parkview Mirro Center Simulation Lab, founded in 2014, provides advanced clinical training to physicians, medical students, clinical teams and other healthcare professionals.

The medical simulation lab can accommodate simulated adult and pediatric traumas and other medical emergencies. The Sim Lab features some of the most advanced medical simulation technology available today, including high-fidelity manikins, task trainers and virtual reality trainers.

The mobile simulation lab allows us to take our training into the communities and provide instruction to first responders like firefighters, paramedics, nursing schools and other frontline healthcare workers.
