As part of our commitment to meeting the well-being needs of the communities we serve, whenever an issue should arise, the Parkview Access Center is a round-the-clock resource. Staffed by knowledgeable, dedicated phone nurses and schedulers, someone is always standing by to answer your questions and assist with your clinical needs. Here are four common scenarios in which our Access Center team members can help.

Scenario No. 1: Answering your questions

Who will assist? Our team of nurses, schedulers, medication management specialists and crisis call specialists are available 24/7 and are ready to take your call.

When this might be helpful: Sometimes, your most urgent questions about post-op instructions, a new medication or symptoms pop up outside of typical business hours. Access Center team members are trained to help you with these pressing medical questions and dilemmas, including, but certainly not limited to, deciphering lab results, behavioral health crisis support and connecting you with community resources.

Why this is so beneficial for patients: This one-call resolution can keep patients home, where they’re comfortable, rather than venturing out for answers or an unnecessary appointment. Also, 24/7 access minimizes worry in the overnight hours when it can be difficult to connect with the right resources.

Scenario No. 2: Arranging care

Who will assist? Our team of schedulers and phone nurses are available 24/7.

When this might be helpful: Days fill up with a million tasks. Just because it’s after 5 o’clock, it doesn’t mean you can’t set up necessary medical appointments for you and your family. You can call us anytime to receive care recommendations and assistance with setting up appointments with the right providers. This could include finding a new doctor that is near your home or work or fits your schedule.

Why this is so beneficial for patients: You can call us anytime, at your convenience, even when your doctor’s office is closed. This takes the pressure off of patients who have difficulty connecting with their providers during normal business hours.

Scenario No. 3: Refilling medications

Who will assist? Our Access Center team of nurses and medication management specialists.

When this might be helpful: This is a great option for those instances when your medication refill sneaks up on you and you need the refill taken care of quickly. Our team is also a great resource for those who recently started a new medication and might have questions about the prescription.

Why this is so beneficial for patients: You can call us anytime, even when your doctor’s office may be closed.

Limitations: We cannot prescribe a new medication and we cannot guarantee a medication request will be immediately fulfilled. We can offer over-the-counter suggestions when appropriate.

Scenario No. 4: Providing recommendations

Who will assist? Our Access Center team of nurses can provide treatment recommendations and care advice. Our crisis call specialists can provide recommendations on behavioral health services or assist when you are experiencing a mental health crisis.

When this might be helpful: We field a variety of inquiries, from medication concerns or side effects, to new or worsening physical symptoms, to medical devices, to upcoming procedures or appointments, and post-op instructions. Our team members are trained to provide accurate information and guidance in your hour of need.

Why this is so beneficial for patients: Physical and mental health issues don’t keep a set schedule. They can arise at any time. Our goal is to have someone available on the other end of the line whenever you need to consult a professional, for a broad range of issues. When in doubt, reach out.

Call the Parkview Health Access Center any time, at 877-PPG-TODAY or 877-774-8632 for assistance with these and other healthcare concerns.
