Reuniting with the Class of 1969

People of Parkview

On May 3, some of our Parkview Hospital Randallia co-workers hosted a group of very special guests – members of the Parkview Methodist School of Nursing’s Class of 1969, who were gathered in Fort Wayne to celebrate their 50th class reunion. Parkview Health Chief Nursing Officer Judy Boerger led the group on a behind-the-scenes tour that highlighted several departments, new technology and the tribute to the former English Hall – their home for three years – at Entrance 2. Their tour concluded with a small reception, and the alumnae also attended a reunion dinner that evening.

1969

What was Parkview like in 1969? We can gather some insights from their senior yearbook, The Lamp, which mentioned the uniform update from the old starched bibs and skirts to one-piece shifts, the second male nursing student to enroll in the program, laboratory procedures performed by a “chemical robot”, construction on the south wing of the hospital, a nursing school tackle football game and the class choir.

It's always fun to look back on the decades that came before and reflect on the styles, the aesthetics and the people. We're so grateful to the class of 1969 for letting us revisit their time on our campus.
