What to Pack for your Hospital Stay

Babies sometimes arrive early, so it’s good to be prepared. We encourage you to pack your suitcase for your hospital stay at least four to six weeks before your expected delivery date.

We suggest you pack:

  • Slippers
  • Nightgown or pajamas
  • Two support or breastfeeding bras
  • Personal care items: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, facial tissues, deodorant, shampoo and make-up essentials. Electric appliances are welcome, but they must be inspected prior to use.
  • Address book or electronic device with phone numbers.
  • Photography or video equipment. Capturing the birth of your baby is a special event. We suggest you check the equipment prior to arrival to ensure it functions properly. Battery-operated devices are welcome.
  • Loose-fitting outfit. It is important to feel comfortable after having your baby. We suggest you pack a loose-fitting outfit for your trip home.

What to Bring for Your Baby

While packing your suitcase, include pre-washed items for your baby’s trip home.

  • Undershirt
  • Receiving blanket
  • Sleep sack or soft-textured outfit
  • Stocking cap or hat
  • Extra blanket, depending on weather conditions
  • Safety-approved car seat
