Catching up with Curtis (July ’19)

The latest from Curtis Smith, Corporate Director of Community Engagement.

July is a fun month, isn’t it? After the winter and spring we had, it was good to have some summer heat, even if it was a little too hot on a couple of days.

Even though the Fourth of July and all of the activity that comes with summer kept me pretty busy, I still had the chance to connect with a number of organizations, like the Steuben County YMCA, the Power House in New Haven, and Youth for Christ.

This month also included a number of video shoots for the upcoming Global Leadership Summit.  I am honored to be playing a part in that event again this year, as a co-emcee. And this year, that includes conducting of a number of interviews with area CEOs. It has been fun and enlightening to learn from many of our great leaders.

I also had the chance to be at Star stage, with Star 88.3, for their night at the Three Rivers Festival. It was so moving to share the stage with Melissa Montana, Donovan Coley, Luther Whitfield, Marshall White, and men and women who represent our area’s police and fire departments. We prayed for the city and unity among all people. It was a beautiful experience. At the end of the Three Rivers Festival, all of my Parkview team members went down to the TinCaps game and caught the fireworks show to end Three Rivers. What a spectacular show, and Parkview Field was the perfect setting to see them!

Finally, I met two celebrities this month. Parkview Sports Medicine played a role in getting Mike Ryan from the Dan LeBatard show to come to Fort Wayne. I took two of my sons to meet him, and then my wife and I had a chance to meet Jim Nantz (with my sister and her husband). It was great to talk with someone who uses TV to do a lot of good in the world.

I hope that my TV career brought value to the world, and even more, I hope that is happening now that I am part of Parkview.
