What is body contouring, and how does it work?
Body contouring or CoolSculpting® is a nonsurgical way to safely and effectively freeze fat cells for individuals with stubborn pockets of fat that are difficult to reduce despite diet and exercise. This procedure effectively targets fat cells underneath the skin without damaging the outer layer or surrounding tissue. The body then naturally eliminates the dead fat cells in the weeks and months following.
Who’s an ideal candidate for this procedure?
Anyone who has areas of stubborn fat that won't go away regardless of their diet and exercise, and is looking for a non-surgical solution to fat reduction, could benefit from this type of procedure.
What can patients expect during and after a session?
As your treatment begins, you will feel the applicator deliver controlled cooling to the targeted area. During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping at the site. These sensations will subside as the area becomes numb. A typical treatment can take anywhere from 35-75 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Additionally, there is little to no downtime following a procedure, with most patients returning to normal activities immediately after a session.
How long will it take to see results?
While everyone is different, most patients require two or more treatment sessions to reach their body contouring goals. Results may be seen as early as 1-3 months after treatment and be evident 6-9 years later, even with fluctuations in body weight.
