Community, Sports & Exercise

This weekend, Fort Wayne will celebrate the grand opening of Promenade Park, an exciting development in the ongoing Riverfront Fort Wayne Project. Promenade Park is a world-class attraction, designed to be an accessible recreational space for all. We can’t think of a better way to experience the new space than to lace up your sneakers and go get active.

Activity No. 1 – Take a jog

The north bank of Promenade Park is for recreation and exploration. The tree-lined north bank of the river leverages the Rivergreenway trail system and builds on this bank’s role as a center of outdoor activities. For a truly exhilarating experience, pick up the Parkview Tree Canopy Trail and take a run along the treetops.

Activity No. 2 – Nature walk

Be a tourist in the wilderness of your own hometown. Take advantage of an early bird nature tour along the banks of the St. Marys River. Connecting with nature on a regular basis has been proven to improve both our mental and physical health. Bonus: Learn how to make your stroll a mindfulness exercise as well.

Activity No. 3 – Kayak adventure

Haul your own or rent a kayak from Fort Wayne Outfitters and enjoy a paddle down the river. The activity is a great way to get your heart rate up while enjoying good friends in a beautiful setting. Don’t forget to bring water and sunscreen!

There are so many ways to get moving in our area. The most important thing is to get out there and explore all your community has to offer.
