How to console your baby

Last Modified: July 25, 2022

Women & Children, Family Medicine

Whether you’re a new or more experienced caregiver, comforting a crying baby can be overwhelming. And while crying is completely normal and a newborn’s only form of communication, trying to decipher what those tears mean can be tricky. Fortunately, we caught up with Jenniffer Godoy, RN, BSN, Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Parkview Regional Medical Center. Join us as she walks us through the various ways to console a baby while reminding all caregivers to stay calm and give themselves some grace because it takes patience and practice to know how to soothe your little one.

If you have additional questions or concerns about your infant, please consult your family doctor or pediatrician.
