Welcome to Parkview’s Transitional Year Residency Program

Build a solid foundation for the future.

Parkview Health’s Transitional Year Residency program is a one-year program that serves as the clinical prerequisite year prior to advanced residencies which include, but are not limited to: anesthesiology, dermatology, diagnostic or interventional radiology, neurology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Our program will provide a broad-based experience for those who need experience and assistance in making a future career choice.

Internal Medicine Curriculum

Transitional Year Residency Curriculum

We have developed our program to provide you with a strong, broad based clinical foundation, with rotations in inpatient internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, general surgery, and OBGYN. At the same time, we want you to have the flexibility to personalize your training with ample elective time, and the opportunity to explore research, and quality initiatives, and, if so desired, become involved in community service, advocacy and leadership. For didactics, you will predominantly participate in lecture/educational series alongside the categorical internal medicine residents, or general surgery residents, providing additional camaraderie and shared learning. We will also have an individualized educational program specific for the transitional year resident physician. Most of all, we will provide a supportive environment to help guide you towards clinical excellence, humanism, and leadership.
