Meet the Program Director: Jenna L. Laughlin, DO, FACP
As Program Director of the Transitional Year Residency at Parkview Health, I’m proud to lead a program that provides a strong clinical foundation in a supportive and collaborative environment, where you will be fully prepared for your advanced specialty. We offer 10 transitional year positions annually with 2 additional spots for those matched to our categorical Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation program.
Our Transitional Year program is closely integrated with our Internal Medicine Residency. Transitional Year residents work alongside internal medicine residents on core rotations, share similar expectations, and benefit from the same robust clinical and academic environment. Transitional Year residents participate in Friday afternoon academic half days with our internal medicine residents, which are fully protected from clinical duties. These sessions cover core topics in internal medicine, evidence-based medicine, wellness, and high-fidelity simulation at our state-of-the-art simulation center. We also hold dedicated Transitional Year didactic sessions, which include specialty-specific discussions and a journal club that promotes critical appraisal and lifelong learning.
Residents benefit from engaged faculty, personalized mentorship, and strong support systems—including a proven track record of helping unmatched residents successfully reapply. Former graduates of our program have gone on to excel in competitive specialties such as anesthesiology, diagnostic radiology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, and obstetrics & gynecology.
We are located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which offers big-city amenities with small-town charm—an affordable, welcoming community with excellent quality of life. We’re excited to meet applicants who are passionate about patient care and ready to grow into capable, confident physicians.
