Parkview Health is committed to resident training and provides valuable knowledge and experience necessary for success. Our Psychiatry Residency is an ACGME-accredited, four-year, supportive residency program centered around clinical excellence, scientific inquiry and comprehensive psychiatric care. You’ll build a strong foundation with enhanced learning and tailored instruction during this step in your career.
A specialized residency program centered around comprehensive psychiatric care
Our Psychiatry Residency Program has many unique features to support your residency journey, including:
- Comprehensive clinical and didactic experiences in biological and psychotherapeutic treatments.
- Faculty with a breadth of expertise: child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison and emergency psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry, addiction medicine, neuropsychiatry and the integrated care model.
- Psychotherapy didactics and supervision by psychology faculty from the Parkview Behavioral Health Institute’s psychology residency program that has been accredited since 1988.
- Dedicated research time and support through Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation.
- State-of-the-art facilities including newly renovated psychiatric units and dedicated Graduate Medical Education space with call rooms, a quiet study and relaxation area and an exercise area.
- Ability to meet all ACGME requirements by end of PGY3, which allows residents to fast track for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
- A patient population diverse in both socioeconomic status and disease prevalence.
- Dedicated didactic time with weekly journal clubs and a monthly rotation of Grand Rounds, Interdisciplinary Case Conference, Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) Conference and Open Forum with the program director.
- Longitudinal didactic modules that build upon progressive knowledge acquisition and complement clinical experiences.
