A Baby’s Closet offers a clothing and equipment incentive program for parents or guardians with children newborn to age 3. Participants earn coupons redeemable for clothing, furniture and supplies for baby. A Baby’s Closet is located

at First Christian Church, 4800 S. Calhoun Street Fort Wayne, IN 46807, and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-5 p.m. It is also located at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Putnam Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808, and is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Allen County Healthy Homes Program is assesses and educates people about dangers in the home that can pose a threat to their families. The division also collaborates with the Vector Control & Environmental Services division to educate people about injury prevention, radon, pests, mold and moisture issues, and asthma triggers.

Offers financial resources for persons with housing needs, as well as emergency assistance for individuals who are homeless. CANI is a member of Covering Kids & Families of Indiana, Inc. (CKF-IN), a statewide organization committed to ensuring that all children and families eligible for Medicaid and Indiana’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) are enrolled. CANI also provides Head Start classes, family development programs and childcare, weatherizing and energy assistance.

Daybreak Crisis Homes provides emergency, short-term childcare for children under the age of 11 for families in crisis. The office is located at 500 West Main St., Fort Wayne, Ind. Hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Emergency placements are available.

Healthy Families of Allen County is part of Healthy Families Indiana. It is a free support service, managed by SCAN, to help parents with newborns up to 90 days old who meet assessment criteria develop healthy families. You can take part in a voluntary home visitation program, screenings to show your baby’s development and more. If you are interested in this program, contact SCAN at (260) 421-5000.

This organization provides poison expertise and treatment advice by phone. Professionally trained staff is available 24/7 to offer immediate poison-exposure management instructions. Poison centers are staffed by pharmacists, physicians, nurses and poison information providers who are toxicology specialists.

Indiana’s Child Protective Services (CPS) protects Indiana's children from further abuse or neglect and prevents, remedies or assists in solving problems that may result in abuse, neglect, exploitation or delinquency of children.

This organization is dedicated to providing education, information, support and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be who are interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to the meetings and bring your babies.

This program serves as a link between patients and physicians, pharmaceutical companies and/or local pharmacies for the purpose of providing medication at little or no cost for qualified applicants. The program serves Allen County residents and patients referred by a Parkview physician. Long-term assistance (Maintenance Medication Program) is available.

Turnstone is the only free-standing rehabilitation not-for-profit organization in northeast Indiana that provides a comprehensive continuum of supportive services that address the unique needs of people with physical disabilities and their families. The agency is governed by a board of directors and is known for its highly professional staff of licensed professionals including physical, occupational, speech and recreation therapists, social workers and educators.

WIC provides supplemental foods, healthcare referrals and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk (not receiving correct nutrition that enables a child to grow properly).
