You have been referred to the Lipid Clinic at Parkview Heart Institute because you have abnormal blood cholesterol levels which increase your risk for heart attack, stroke or peripheral artery disease (PAD). Likely, you have tried medications and diets and are still concerned about abnormal cholesterol levels. At the Lipid Clinic you will meet with a team of specially trained nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists and physicians who will help you through lifestyle changes and medication protocols. Most patients in Lipid Clinic successfully and significantly lower cholesterol levels and risk for cardiovascular disease.
At the Lipid Clinic you will:
- Attend an education session at the Parkview Heart Institute to discuss how to achieve a heart healthy lifestyle and learn about new medications and new ways to use old medications.
- Work with your care team to create an individualized plan to decrease your cholesterol levels and your risk for heart attack, stroke or other complications.
- Have access to a specialized pharmacist who will answer your medication questions and provide consults when needed.
