Breast Cancer Screening

A screening mammogram can save your life

Early detection has changed what a cancer diagnosis can mean, and breast cancer is a leading example because when found early, it can be highly treatable.

Screening mammograms can catch changes long before you feel any symptoms, making them one of the most powerful tools in the fight against breast cancer. And because screening mammograms are considered preventive care, they’re often fully covered by insurance.

One appointment is all it takes to be proactive and care for yourself.

Schedule your mammogram
Breast cancer screening recommendations
  • Women age 40 to 44: Optional mammogram annually
  • Women age 45 to 54: Mammogram every year
  • Women age 55 and older: Mammogram every one to two years (frequency should be determined based on a conversation between you and your provider)
  • High-risk individuals: Women with a family history of breast cancer or genetic mutations (BRCA1/BRCA2) should consider earlier and more frequent screening, often starting at age 30
How do mammograms work?
Screening mammograms are simple, quick, and noninvasive tests. The procedure uses low-dose X-rays to create images of the breast tissue. A radiologist then reads the images to identify changes or abnormalities in the mammogram that could be or suggest a cancer.
