What to expect

What to expect at your first visit

Receiving a cancer diagnosis comes with many questions, worries, and anxiety. We’d like to ease some of your concerns by letting you know what you can expect when you come in for your first visit, when you’re undergoing care, and beyond.

First visit

During your first visit with us, you can expect the following: 

  • Meeting with your physician
  • Physical exam (usually includes a pelvic exam)
  • Reviewing your pathology results
  • Reviewing your individualized plan of care
  • Meeting your nurse navigation team
  • Receiving information on your next steps 
What to expect during your care

The right care for you is highly dependent on your diagnosis and other individual factors. Your physician or nurse practitioner will discuss what treatments are right for you. Two common treatment(s) approaches include surgery and chemotherapy. Learn more about what to expect from these treatment options.  

Surgery 

  • Working with a surgical nurse 
  • Completing your preoperative lab work
  • Scheduling your surgery and postoperative visits

Chemotherapy 

  • Receiving your individualized schedule 
  • Completing lab work 
  • Meeting with your physician or nurse practitioner
