As we celebrate National Nurses Week, we consider our dedicated team of healers, who show up to serve patients, console their families and support each other shift after shift. Much like the shade and security of a sturdy tree in late spring, these men and women nourish themselves so they can give to and be strong for others.
The calling to help is the seed that swells.
It takes root in the lessons and practice of delivering care, anchoring the clinician in skill and compassion.
And as the fruits of that practice grow, so too does the need to nourish.
To feed the soul and replenish peace.
To water the worries and soothe the souls of others in the storm.
To energize and encourage colleagues, supporting them so they can grow tall in the sun and stay strong in the winds.
Because it’s only with great care, that a glorious crown, broad enough to provide shade and safety for others, can bloom.
