Tell me why I need a colonoscopy.
A lot of people are intimidated about having a colonoscopy. I get it, but here's why it's important.
Early on, there are no symptoms to colorectal cancer, and so the best way to catch it sooner and treat it is to have screenings. Often by the time symptoms have developed—things like blood in the stool, constipation or weight loss the cancer is advanced and is harder to treat. The colonoscopy allows us to detect precancerous polyps, and both find those and remove them in the same procedure to prevent cancer.
