Dave Johnson, PhD, CNS, BC, LMFT, Parkview Center for Healthy Living, invites you to stop and breathe your body.
Are you breathing? Maybe that sounds silly or nonsensical, but when you pause and notice your breathing, you gain an awareness.

Your body is breathing you 99.9% of the time. You don't have to think about it, it just happens. But in the moment, if you focus your attention, you can shift from autopilot to intentionally breathing your body, and maybe you can also notice where you’re holding onto tension.
For me, I hold it in my chest, the back of my neck and in my jaw. When I take a slow, deep breath, I can sometimes rub it and pat it, and nourish the cells within me, and exhale that carbon dioxide and let go.
Sometimes I can watch my children or grandchildren breathe, or my pets breathe, and while I watch, I can marvel at the beauty of life and how breathing takes place.
Enjoy your breath.
