Payton Rolfsen & Leah Carter make college choices official with Empowered signing ceremony

April 15, 2022

Two seniors who play their club volleyball with Empowered Volleyball Academy made their college choice officials Thursday during a signing ceremony at Empowered.

Payton Rolfsen, a setter and outside hitter from Leo High School, is joining the volleyball program at Emory & Henry College, an NCAA Division II program in Emory, Virginia. She tallied 137 kills, 39 aces, 22 blocks and 102 digs in her senior season. She earned 1st Team All-Northeast 8 Conference honors the last two years, and named to the 4A Senior All-Star team this past season. She plans to study exercise science.

Leah Carter from Northwestern High School near Kokomo, Indiana signed to play college volleyball at Huntington University. Leah recorded 187 kills, 5 aces, 84 blocks and 73 digs. She makes the two-hour from Howard County to Allen County several times a week, and says she turned her college-playing focus to volleyball over basketball as a sophomore at Northwestern (the Lady Tigers won the 3A girls basketball state championship when she was a freshman). Leah plans to study nursing.
