Four Northrop Bruins sign on to college athletic plans

Amanda Thatcher signed to play womens basketball at Anderson University, an NCAA Division III program in central Indiana. Amanda earned four varsity letters with the Lady Bruins, served as team captain and earned 2nd Team All-SAC honors. As a senior, she averaged 10 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Her dedication to her studies earned her Honorable Mention Academic All-State, as well. She plays her club basketball with Always100. Amanda plans to study early education and minor in psychology.  

 

SAC Boys Soccer Player of the Year Jarick Aguilar will continue his soccer career at Trine University, an NCAA Division III program in Angola. Jarick finished with 19 goals and 15 assists this season to earn the conference’s top individual award, Team MVP, 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-State. He led the Bruins to an undefeated SAC championship, a sectional championship and program-best 16-3 overall record. He plays club soccer at Fort Wayne Sport Club. He plans to study business.

 

Aniyah Moore will throw for the women’s track & field team at Muskingum University, an NCAA Division III program in New Concord, Ohio. Aniyah throws shot put and discuss at Northrop.  She was the SAC champion and sectional runner-up in shot put a year ago, conference runner-up in discus last season, and conference runner-up in shotput in 2019. She set the Northrop freshman shotpout record at 38 feet, 2.5 inches. Her best marks are 40 feet in the shotpout and 115 feet, 5 inches in the discus.  She plans on studying pre-medicine at Muskingum.

 

Alexa Huth will be playing softball at the University of Indianapolis, an NCAA Division II program.  Alexa twice earned 1st Team All-Summit Athletic Conference honors. As a freshman, she batted .440 with a .464 on base percentage and .760 slugging average.  Last season, battling she batted .275.  On the mound, Alexa only gave up 36 hits and 24 earned runs with a 2.14 ERA in her junior campaign. Alexa helped Northrop to the SAC sectional championship and 4A sectional title a year ago. Alexa was also Northrop’s Beyond The Game Leadership recipient in 2021. She plans to study nursing.
