Leo's Allen, Livingston make Power 5 college football commitments official

December 16, 2021

Leo High School celebrated on Wednesday two accomplished high school football players who will play major Division I football in college.

DJ Allen and Landen Livingston held a joint signing ceremony in the Leo gym to make their commitments official.

DJ signed his national letter of intent with Rutgers University, a member of the Big Ten Conference. The 6'7", 225-lb. defensive end/tight end was an All-Northeast 8 Conference 1st team selection the past two seasons at defensive end. He recorded 44 takles (41 solo, 15 for loss), 6 sacks, and one safety as senior. He picked Rutgers over six other Big Ten Schools, Army West Point, Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Vanderbilt to name a few. He was also a 4A All-State selection. DJ plans to go pre-med through biology or kineseology with hopes of eventually becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

Landen signed his national letter of intent with West Virginia University, a member of the Big 12 Conference. Landon--6'5", 260 lbs.--also played on both sides of the ball, but is also a two-time All-NE8 1st team pick. Landen totaled 32.5 tackles (32 solo, 6 for loss), and two sacks. He was also named to the IFCA Top 50 All-State team.  He picked WVU over offers from Purdue, Indiana, Iowa and Cincinnati. He is undecided on a major, but plans to study in the medicial field.

Both DJ and Landen were part of a very successful Leo football team in recent years. The Lions won back-to-back NE8 championships and finished 11-1 this past season. The pair can also be found on the Leo basketball courts, and were key contributors to a 3A state runner-up team a year ago.
