One of the area's top basketball players has made his college hoops intentions known.
Northrop senior Jalen Jackson announced Tuesday, September 14, his committment to the University of Illinois-Chicago men's basketball program.
Jalen and mom, Northrop girls coach Katie Jackson, unzipped jackets to show bright red T-shirts emblazened with with the UIC Flames graphics. An accompanying video documented how Jalen came to his decision.
Jalen, who transferred from Carroll to Northrop over the summer, averaged 22.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as a junior for the Chargers. He earned All-Summit Athletic Conference and Underclass Supreme 15 All-State last season. He plays AAU basketball for the Indy Heat EYBL.
Jalen plans to study to be a chiropractor.
