Blackhawk Christian pulled away from Parke Heritage late in the IHSAA 2A State Championship on Saturday, April 3, to claim the Braves' second state title in three years.

The top-ranked Braves (28-3) closed on a 20-9 run to beat #5 Park Heritage, 55-40.

After just one field goal in the first half, senior Caleb Furst came alive in the second half--scoring 18 of his 20 points. He added 7 rebounds and a state finals record 6 blocks for the game. Furst was named the 2A Mental Attitude Award winner, as well.

Zane Burke scored 14 points and 4 assists, Jacob Boyer broke out with 14 points and 4 rebounds, Marcus Davidson added 5 points and 6 rebounds, and Gage Sefton rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

Parke Heritage was led by Connor Davis' 18 points and 9 rebounds. The Wolves finished 27-4 and won their first sectional, regional and semi-state titles in the third year of the school.

It is the second title in three years for the Braves, who moved up to Class 2A after winning the 1A state title in 2019, and having their 2020 season canceled after sectionals.
