Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship goes to Eastside's Liam Franz

Eastside High School senior Liam Franz has been named the DeKalb County recipient of the 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded by the Community Foundation of DeKalb County, and gives Liam a four-year full-tuition scholarship to an Indiana college of her choice and a $900 yearly sipend for books and equipment.

"After learning about this scholarship while I was in 8th grade, I was determined to work towards it. Working hard in the classroom, volunteering in the community, and being a leader at my school set me up for success," Liam tells ParkviewSportsMedicine.com. "I am so blessed receive this award and scholarship. It allows me to continue chasing my dreams."

Liam stays busy at Eastside, playing baseball and football for the Blazers. He also is part of the National Honor Society, student council, Interact Club, CANstruction, Beat Club, Amnesty International, DeKalb's VOICE youth philanthropy group, and the Make A Child Smile Foundation.

Liam is headed to the University of Notre Dame next year.

Liam was selected through an application process that highlighted her community service, volunteerism, extracurricular activities, work experience, and leadership roles. Winners statewide were chosen by the Independent College of Indiana. Winners statewide were selected by the Independent Colleges of Indiana.
