North Side High School senior Aja Wilson has been named one of five Allen County recipients of the 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, and gives Aja a four-year full-tuition scholarship to an Indiana college of her choice and a $900 yearly sipend for books and equipment.
"I met my mentors and they taught me what it felt like to need something more out of life," Aja tells ParkviewSportsMedicine.com. "They taught me that being okay with being average was not the way to live a full life."
By winning the lily endowment scholarship it allows me to be something greater than what everyone thought I could be. I could not have done it without everyone that was there for me when I was a clueless freshman. It truly takes a village. I cannot wait to create new relationships and see what God has in store for me.
Aja plays softball at North Side, and was a manager for the Legends football team. Additionally, she's a part of the National Honor Society; and was a student helper for the Parkview Sports Medicine athletic trainers at North Side.
Aja was selected through an application process that highlighted her community service, volunteerism, extracurricular activities, work experience, and leadership roles. Winners statewide were chosen by the Independent College of Indiana.
