
South Side alumnus KiMari Houston will continue both her softball and volleyball careers at Goshen College.
Houston, a 2017 graduate of South Side, held a signing ceremony June 29 at The Summit's Learning Center. Goshen College is an NAIA school in Goshen, Indiana. The Maple Leafs compete in the Crossroads League.
In softball, Houston played pitcher and catcher and was a captain for the Archers. She improved from honorable mention to 1st team All-Summit Athletic Conference over 3 seasons, was named team MVP as a junior and earned four varsity letters.
In volleyball, she earned 2nd team All-SAC as senior and honorable mention All-Conference as a junior. She was named MVP during her senior season, named to the Wayne Invitational All-Tourney Team, and was awarded the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete award.
Collectively, she was named Most Oustanding Senior Female Athlete at South Side of the Class of 2017. In the classroom, she was was a 21st Century Scholar, a National Spanish Honor Society member and received Academic Honors upon graduation.
Houston plans to major in exercise science and minor in Spanish.
