Indiana Tech tabs national champion coach Hicks to lead Warriors women ice hockey

May 27, 2020

Indiana Tech has found its first women's ice hockey coach, naming Scott Hicks to the position.

Hicks spent the last 10 seasons at Miami University, where he started the women's hockey program. The Redhawks won ACHA Division I national championships in 2014, 2016 and 2017; they were national runners-up in 2015.  Hicks went 155-16-19, winning ACHA National Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2018 and Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association Coach of the Year three times.

"I felt right at home when I met everyone on campus," Hicks says. "The support for the program around campus and the community will provide a tremendous opportunity for our young women to be successful!"
Additionally, Hicks has served as vice president of the ACHA Women's Division and co-director of the ACHA National Tournament.

"We are pleased to welcome Scott Hicks to the Indiana Tech Athletics Department as our inaugural women's ice hockey coach," incoming Tech athletic director Jessie Biggs says. "Coach Hicks brings a wealth of experience in the sport and I have no doubt he will build and lead our women's program in an elite direction that aligns with Indiana Tech and our mission."

Hicks will officially begin his duties July 1. The Warriors women's hockey program won't start play until the 2021-22 school year, so Hicks will use his first year as coach to recruit players to Tech. Student-athletes interested in Indiana Tech women's hockey can access information here.
