Indiana Tech adding women's ice hockey in 2021

April 8, 2020

Women's ice hockey is the newest sport coming to Indiana Tech in the coming years.

The university announced the addition of the program as the 26th Warriors sport. The team will start competition in the 2021-22 school year.

“Having this opportunity available to young women will be something that separates Indiana Tech as a place to continue educational opportunities while competing at a high level on the ice," Tech athletic director Debbie Warren said in a statement.

Indiana Tech will apply for membership in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, which offers two divisions for women's ice hockey. Homegames will be played at SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, where new locker rooms are being constructed to accomodate both the incoming women's team and the men's team. The search for the first women's hockey head coach will take place this spring.

Indiana Tech joins Trine as the two universities in Indiana that offer women's ice hockey.

Indiana Tech is one of five universities that partner with Parkview Sports Medicine for athletic training, nutrition, sports performance, athletic rehab and other sports medicine services for Warrior student-athletes. Learn more at www.parkviewsportsmedicine.com.
