Angola girls basketball coach Brandon Appleton capped off a great season for his Lady Hornets by being named Bob King District 1 Coach of the Year.
The honor was announced March 23 by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association. In all, Appleton is one of six girls coaches statewide recognized.
Appleton led Angola to 21-3 mark, including a 10-0 mark in the Northeast Corner Conference. The Hornets finshed No. 9 in the final 3A poll with their season ending at sectionals. In six seasons at Angola, he has won 73.5 percent of his games (111-40).
