8U State Championship Border War returns to SportONE/Parkview Icehouse

The Fort Wayne Amateur Hockey Association is once again sharpening its blades for a big youth hockey weekend.

The 8U State Championship Border War are returning to the SportONE/Parkvie Icehouse, 3869 Ice Way, on Saturday, March 7 and March 8.  Featuring 11 teams from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, champions will be crowned in the 8U champions will be crowned for each state. One team will eventually win the title of Border War Champion.

The Parkview Sports Medicine Force is represented by a total of 4 teams. The 8U Select 2011 Blue and 8U SElect 2012 teams. Both squads are coming off of championship wins at Irish South Bend Mite Ice Jamboree. The PSM Force House team will also play while representing the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.

Other Indiana teams include the Trine Youth Hockey Association and two teams from South Bend.

The field also includes defending Ohio state champs, the Newark Generals and Kentucky state champs, the Louisville Ice Cardinals. Louisville took home the top prize of Border War Champion a year ago.

The 8U division is the FWAHA's youngest group of teams, so playing in front of a big home crowd promises to be memorable for the kids.

Games run 1:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Games on Sunday, March 8 start at 8 a.m. with the championship facing off at 1 p.m.
