March 23, 2019
INDIANAPOLIS - Blackhawk Christian used a fast start to seize momentum early en route to the school's first boys basketball state championship Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The No. 1 Braves (28-2) led nearly wire-to-wire, knocking off No. 2 Barr-Reeve (26-3), 60-43. Blackhawk Christian led 17-8 after the first quarter and surged out to a 30-17 lead at halftime. The Braves would lead by 25 points at the end of the 3rd quarter. Barr-Reeve would give one last push in the 4th quarter, but the Vikings could never get it any closer than 14.
This is the Braves' first state title in two finals appearances. Blackhawk Christian lost to Waldron, 69-54, in the 1A title game in 2004.
