Wabash High School senior Dereck Vogel has made his college running choice official.
Vogel signed his national letter of intent January 29 with Indiana University Kokomo, where he will run cross country and track. IU Kokomo is an NAIA school that competes in the Rivers States Conference.

Vogel has been the Apaches' athletes during his high school career. In cross country, he won the Three Rivers Conference individual title as a junior and placed 2nd at the league meet as a junior; he was sectional champion as senior with a personal best and school record 15:55.8 for the 5,000-meter race. and repeated as regional runner up his junior and senior seasons. He was a state finalist in cross country the last 2 years.
The Apaches boys cross country team won back-to-back TRC titles in 2018 and 2019 and their first-ever sectional and regional championships in 2018.
On the track, Vogel is poised for a big senior season. He is the conference runner-up in the 3,200-meter run as a junior and sophomore. He helped the Apaches claim the TRC team title last spring.
