December 13, 2019

Two Northrop High School seniors put pen to paper December 12, inking their college athletic plans.

Cris Valencia signed his national letter of intent to run men’s cross country and track & field at Aurora University, an NCAA Division II program in Aurora, Illinois.

Valencia has run track and cross country for the Bruins all four years. His personal record in the 5,000-meter cross country race is 18:14. In track, his PRs are 5:05 for the 1600-meter run and 11:43 for the 3200-meter run. He earned the team most improved and mental attitude awards as a senior.

Jackson Foote will play baseball at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, a junior college program in central Michigan. Foote has started as a catcher in 53 games at Northrop. With the bat, he has a .274 average with tallied 40 hits and 4 homeruns, 13 doubles and 42 RBI as a junior. The Bruins won the Summit Athletic Conference championship last season.
