Four Leo Lions make college choices official

LEO-CEDARVILLE, Ind. - Leo High School celebrated Wednesday four seniors who will play athletics at the college level. 

Kyle Miazga, Hannah Adams, Mackenzie Rust and Dylan Carlyle all put pen to paper during National Signing Day ceremonies at the school.

Miazga is one of many local football players to sign with Saint Francis football. He was a 2-way player for the Lions, but earned 2nd team All-Northeast 8 Conference honors at offensive tackle. He plans to study education at USF.

Adams will play women’s basketball at Bethel College, an NAIA school in Goshen, Ind. She averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, and earned All-NE8 honors earlier this week. She plans to study exercise science.

Rust will also head to Saint Francis, as she continues her softball career. Rust average .481 hitting as junior with 3 home runs and 16 RBI. She also went 6-2 as a pitcher with 3 shutouts and a 0.56 ERA. She was named All-NE8 last season. Rust plans to study special education.

Dylan Carlyle will play NAIA men’s soccer at Huntington University. He scored 3 goals and 3 assists as senior. The Lions advanced to the 2A regional championship this past season.

Leo is one of 25 local high schools that partners with Parkview Sports Medicine for athletic training, nutrition, athletic rehabilitation and orthopedic services for Lion athletes.
