Individual records set as Heritage girls golf wins fourth-straight ACAC regular season title

September 6, 2019

On Thursday, Sept. 5, sophomore Carley Rodenbeck shot a new Heritage Girls Golf school record with a nine hole round of 37 at Timber Ridge Golf Course in a match against Bluffton. The outstanding effort also helped the team to secure its fourth consecutive ACAC regular season championship.

On Aug. 22, with a score of 38 at Cross Creek Golf Course in Decatur, senior Abby Sheehan (pictured after her record-setting round) had already set a new school record earlier this season in the team’s match versus Adams Central.

Heritage senior Abby Sheehan set a new school 9-hole record of 38 on Aug. 22.

With awesome performances such as these, the team is 13-0 after the match against Bluffton, as they won 170-217. The top scorers for Heritage were Rodenbeck, 37; Shelby Schane, 42; Sheehan, 43; Cassidy Meyers, 48; and Ashley Buuck, 52.

“I really just tried to keep up my confidence and have fun. I also have extra experience which helped,” said Rodenbeck. “It gave me a big confidence boost, Saturday, [Sep. 7], is our big conference tournament, and then sectionals after that.”

The fourth season of Heritage Girls Golf is winding down, with only three more tournaments before the sectional on Sept. 20. The ladies play the ACAC tournament at Celina Lynx on Saturday, Sept. 7 and then have a match with North Side on Sept. 11 and a tri-match with Bluffton and Norwell on Sept. 12.
