Northrop's Smith & Griggs sign national letters of intent

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Two Northrop High School seniors signed national letters of intent Tuesday to play their respective sports in college.

Ty Smith signed to play football at Siena Heights University, an NAIA program in Adrian, Mich. Smith, A 6’4” and 205-lb. wide receiver, caught 1 touchdowns and racked up 267 receiving yards for the Bruins as a senior. He was team captain this past season, too. He plans to study chemistry.

Rebekah Griggs signed to play softball at Taylor University, an NAIA program in Upland, Ind.  Griggs played catcher for the Lady Bruins; and in the batter’s box, she was a .224 career hitter at Northrop. Griggs plans to study secondary education with an emphasis in music. She says she would one day like to come back and teach at Northrop, too.
