Addison named new Snider girls basketball coach

June 7, 2018

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Snider High School has found its new girls basketball coach.

Gregory Addison’s hiring was approved by the Fort Wayne Community Schools board on May 7.  He replaces Greg Friend, who stepped down at the end of last season.

“I’m super excited to have a program at Snider with excellent athletes” Addison tells ParkviewSportsMedicine.com.

In the weeks since getting the job, Addison has met with the seniors-to-be while assembling a coaching staff that includes former Snider, Elmhurst and Purdue standout Liza Clemons, he says.

This is Addison’s first high school head coaching job. He coached the girls basketball at Portage Middle School last season. He has also coach boys and girls hoops teams in the Police Athletic League for 6 seasons.

Addison is a 12-year veteran of the Fort Wayne Police Department. He spent 3 years as a police officer in Illinois before that. He is also a member of the Air National Guard, where he has served for 12 years of active duty.

Addison played high school basketball for his native, Hammond, before joining the military.
