Blackhawk Christian volleyball gets strong State Finals sendoff

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Blackhawk Christian volleyball team was sent off to its first ever state finals with a rousing pep rally on Fri., Nov. 4.

Students from the junior/senior high school gathered in the gym to cheer on their Lady Braves on to victory against No. 1 New Albany Christian Academy of Indiana (31-6) in the 1A title game.

"I could not be more excited for this group," head coach Lindsay Roth says. "It's the combination of the entire group that bring it together; and that's where their strength resides."

No. 7 Blackhawk Christian (30-5) advanced to the state championship by rolling through the Hamilton sectional, sweeping Triton at regional and surviving a 5-set thriller against No. 2 Lafayette Central Catholic to win semi-state for the first time.

The IHSAA 1A Volleyball State Championship is Sat., Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at Ball State University.
