FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Two local high school soccer programs have received national recognition for academics and sportsmanship.
Heritage girls soccer earned the Team Academic award for the 2015-16 school year. To earn the Team Academic award, a team must have a grade point average of at least 3.25 for the academic year. Heritage’s players accumulated a 3.52 GPA. Heritage is one of 247 girls soccer teams nationwide to earn the award.
Also, Heritage and Blackhawk Christian both earned the Team Ethics & Sportsmanship award for their fair play during the season. The Lady Patriots and the Lady Braves earned Gold level status for only having one yellow card for the entire season.
The awards were given by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
